Hello! I am Marc Willard, your American Legion Post 800 Commander.

 

I served in the Navy Submarine Service from October 1965 through October 1969.  In November 1972, I joined the Naval Reserve and rose through the ranks to Chief Petty Officer (that’s E-7 to the rest of you). 

 

I retired in September 1993 as “Chief of the Boat” with 26 years of service. 

 My Dad was a WW II veteran and a longtime member of the post.

 

I guess you could say, I grew up in the Legion going to picnics, chicken bar-b-ques and so on.  I have served as Post Commander, Deputy District Commander, and District Commander for the 9th district Department of Pennsylvania. 

 

However, the most rewarding is that of Commander of the Pennypack Post 800. 

 

It gives me an opportunity to serve veterans through The American Legion close to home. 

 

The American Legion was formed with four basic principles in mind.  We refer to them as “The Four Pillars” of The American Legion. 

 

The first, of course, is the rehabilitation of veterans.  The second is the education of the children. 

 

The third is to promote Americanism.  And the fourth is to support a strong National Defense.  Everything we do and all the programs we have support one of those pillars.  Look else ware on this page for links to all those programs.

If you are a wartime veteran, I invite you to come and join us.  We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 in the Community Room of the Huntingdon Valley Library.  We do not have a bar and it is a smoke free environment.
